Green Foam sprays two kinds of BioBased Insulation®, suitable for residential and commercial structures:

1. BioBased® 501w, an open cell, semi-rigid spray foam. Used for interior applications (like traditional fiberglass insulation). Has a higher R-value than fiberglass. R-value is the unit of measure for insulation effectiveness used in construction. The higher the number, the more effective the insulation.

2. BioBased® 1701s, a closed cell, rigid spray foam. Used for both interior and exterior applications. Contributes to structural strength and lower vapor permeance. Higher R-value than the open cell 501w, but higher cost. BioBased 1701s also is the first polyurethane spray foam insulation to earn GREENGUARD certification and GREENGUARD for Children and Schools certification.

Both BioBased® products are:

• Made from soybeans
  • Does not promote mold growth
  • Not a food source for insects or rodents
• Reduces load on HVAC system
• Seals and insulates in one application
• Provides a draft free environment for improved indoor air quality
• Reduces airborne dust and fibers
• Reduces allergic reactions
• Reduces indoor and outdoor acoustical pollution
• R-values do not deteriorate over time
• Does not settle or compact in cavities
• Lasts indefinitely and will maintain its properties throughout the life of the structure
• Do NOT use formaldehyde, a known carcinogen, in any of their products
• Water-blown, meaning that there are no harmful chemicals released into your home during application
• Class I fire rated: Chars but does not sustain a flame
